The Merciless Ravages of My Mind

Brakes are really important on bikes. Brakes are something that people take for granted. After my little excursion/adventure today, I now fully appreciate them. Trying to jump off a moving bike or dragging one's feet do not count as brakes, and neither work very well. My poor legs are all cut up from my pedals scraping them as I tried to avoid collisions with...everything. Hmm, Pain is not a new concept for me, but it seems like I forget to take simple precautions to avoid it. Like sunscreen. So easy to apply and useful too! Unfortunately for me, I didn't use any and am now modeling a very nice shade of red on my forehead and arms. Duh, two hours under the sun will do that to me.

So summer is boring. I always forget that. I mean, really, what is there to do? I could get a job, but that isn't fun, although I can hope for something that is mildly enjoyable. I can't go swimming until those dang public schools let out. My friends have sorta disappeared somewhere. I don't have a car, so I'm pretty much stuck within walking distance of my house. Since high schools are still in session, the sibs aren't around to hang with. Yes, it's that desparate. I would rather hang with them than just sit around all by myself evey day. Hmm, what else could I possibly do? Exercise. Haha. Just not my thing. I am attempting to cook things once in a while, but I always forget I have something in the oven and I end up burning it. Actually, putting stuff in the oven isn't what I have a problem with. I can set a beeper thing and then I'll remember. But cooking things on the stovetop is another thing. Especially if I'm supposed to stir it. Just last night I was making stew. Easy enough: dump in pot, stir, and heat. Haha, yeah right. I turned on the radio and started the dishes and completely forgot about it. If it wasn't for the bisquits in the oven (with a beeper) I would have totally ruined it. Gah! Cooking should not be this hard. I mean, millions of people do it every day. It is a necessary part of life! But I totally have problems with it. *sigh*
I guess its only been a week so far, and things will probably get better, maybe. =)

The end of the school year is upon us. Now comes the sticky business of removing posters from walls, and donating old clothing to the vets. It is time for frantic checking of grades, and scrambling to complete extra credit. It is the time for me to cringe when thinking about going home for a whole summer. Again, I will hunt for a summer job, hate it, and then quit with a new lining of green paper in my wallet.
My time of to-do post-its, loft beds, and roommates has almost ended. Bad habits have been formed, friends made, classes passed. Fondly shall I remember my first year at college.
